PRP Treatments

PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) is a specific component of your blood that contains platelets, responsible for helping to clot the blood and also the release of growth factors. When an injury to the skin or blood vessel occurs, proteins are released causing the platelets to bind to that area to create clot and stop bleeding. These activated platelets secrete growth factors to help repair this damaged area, stimulating the production of collagen and elastin.

We are able to take advantage of this process for many beneficial applications, ranging from orthopedic surgeries, aiding in the recovery of sports injuries (many famous sports people use this treatment for joint injuries) to cosmetic applications to assist in improving the quality of your skin and hair.

PRP For The Face

With age and environmental factors, our skin quality diminishes over time. Our collagen layer suffers, becomes thinner, loses its smooth firm look and feel that we associate with young and healthy skin.

PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) is a skin boosting, anti-aging treatment designed to improve skin’s visible quality and elasticity. This procedure has become a very common treatment with those who want to maintain visibly healthier looking skin and hair.

Activated platelets secrete growth factors: this process is the basis of your PRP treatment. When your platelets are re-injected back into your skin, cell regeneration is stimulated and the growth of collagen and elastin occurs reducing the visible signs of aging. Normal blood contains about 6% of platelets, however our process of preparation aims to multiply this by 4x. The safe and easy treatment with minimal down-time is targeted to giving back that plump, smooth look essential for healthier appearing and feeling skin.

What can PRP do for me?

With the concentrated growth factors PRP naturally stimulates your own collagen to:

  • Improve skin texture and elasticity,
  • Reduced fine lines and wrinkles
  • Promote a more youthful complexion, and
  • Slowing the ageing process of skin.

The PRP procedure is used to improve the quality of your skin and is often used in combination with anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers to provide natural looking results for a total face rejuvenation.

While PRP facial treatments are popular other areas include:

  • Neck,
  • Décolletage,
  • Eye area,
  • Back of hands,
  • And has been used to promote hair growth
What happens during your PRP treatments?

Your PRP treatment is a very simple procedure taking approximately 45 minutes – 15-20 minutes of which is the topical anaesthetic mask, the efficient treatment itself only takes 5 minutes!
To begin we take a small amount of your blood, then using specialised equipment we separate the platelets from the other blood components – this process increases the concentration of platelets up to 4x the normal concentration in blood. Once your skin is completely numb, the nutrient filled plasma and platelets are re-injected into targeted areas to nourish the collagen layer of your skin. By doing this we aim to promote new cellular growth, helping the skin with it’s repair and rejuvenation process.

How many treatments do I require?

While clients often see results with a single treatment, the number treatments are determined by current skin health and a client’s desired outcome. If someone has very poor skin health (excessive sun exposure, long history of smoking etc) we would recommend more treatments, whereas if someone has good skin and simply wants to maintain this they may only want to do 1-2 treatments a year. On average 1-2 treatments a year is a great way to assist our skin with it’s repair process.

When will I see results?

As we are stimulating your own collagen growth, visible results are often seen in the short term (weeks) but it is important to understand that as collagen growth occurs and continues to occur over months. Most clients report the best results after 2-3 months with the treatment actively working until then, at this point some clients may choose to have another treatment to boost this result.

What can I expect immediately after my treatment?

Visible mild swelling on the skin is possible and should settle within 2-3 days. Very rarely a small bruise can occur and make-up can be applied after 24 hours to conceal this. As we are using your own (autologous) plasma fluid the risk of complications is very low.

Can PRP be used in combination with other treatments?

Yes. Some of our clients choose to have PRP alone, whereas others combined theirs with anti-wrinkle and/or dermal filler treatments to target different concerns. PRP is great for boosting the skin quality and health, however anti-wrinkle treatments relax muscle movements and dermal fillers replace collagen deficit.

PRP For Hair Loss

With age, genetics and environmental factors, the health of our hair follicles start to thin and eventually disappear. We cannot usually stop this process, however with PRP treatments to the scalp we are able to slow it down to prevent further loss or thicken wispy hairs for a fuller appearance.

Similar to the effects of PRP skin treatments, activated platelets secrete growth factors and this process is the basis of your PRP treatment. When the concentrated platelets are re-injected back into scalp in the areas where the hair roots lie, the growth factors aim to increase the blood supply and therefore the nourishment to your roots.

Normal blood contains about 6% of platelets, however our process of preparation aims to multiply this by 4x.

How does PRP help with hair loss?

With the concentrated growth factors PRP aims to:

  • Attract stem cells
  • Help stimulate hair follicle growth by increasing blood circulation
  • Decrease any inflammation
What happens during your PRP treatments?

Your PRP treatment is a very simple procedure taking approximately 45 minutes – 15-20 minutes of which is the topical anaesthetic mask, the efficient treatment itself only takes 5 minutes!

To begin we take a small amount of your blood, then using specialised equipment we separate the precious platelets from the other blood components – this process increases the concentration of platelets up to 4x. Once your skin is completely numb, the nutrient filled plasma and platelets are re-injected into the layers where hair follicles grow.

How many treatments do I require?

Unlike skin, PRP for hair loss require a minimum of 4 treatments as hair grows in cycles and we need to ensure nourishment occurs in every cycle. As hair requires continual support for ongoing growth, it is expected to continue 1-2 treatments annually. For this reason, we offer affordable packages to ensure all our client’s can maintain this treatment.

When will I see results?

Unlike skin, short term results are not as visible. The nourished hair root aims to grow stronger and thicker hairs, which means any existing thin hair is unaffected. As hair usually grows 1.25cm per month, it takes at least 2-3 months before we start to see visible growth and improvement.

Is PRP suitable for everyone?

The results from PRP are subtle for hair growth and is not suitable for those who want a full head of hair when they currently have no hair.

As PRP aims to support hair follicle growth, it can only treat areas where hair is still present. If there are areas of complete baldness, we would not recommend PRP as it may not provide any growth. Our main goal is to ensure all our clients are given honest and effective treatments for their concerns, so if we feel you will not benefit from the treatment we can make referrals for other treatment options.

What can I expect immediately after my treatment?

Visible mild swelling on the skin is possible and should settle within 2-3 days. It is usually done in between hairs any signs of treatment is easily concealed.

Can PRP be used in combination with other treatments?

Yes. There are a variety of topical and oral medications that can support hair growth but may not be suitable for all individuals.

PRP For Neck & Hands

PRP has also been widely used to treat the neck, décolletage and the back of hands. These areas are exposed to sunlight in our day to day routines leading to fine lines and poor skin texture.

The treatment of neck, décolletage and hands is similar to the treatment of the facial area. The only difference is as there is very little fat covering these areas, smaller bruises are more common and we would recommend including this in the healing timeline.
